Besides my work experience, I currently serve as the strategic consultant to
Goodwork's Board of Directors. Goodwork is a non-profit, non-governmental organization (NGO) dedicated to furthering global issues education at the secondary school level. I am helping the Board of Directors develop an organizational plan outlining
the organization's strategic goals and assisting them with funding initiatives. My work at Goodwork is giving me insight into the proper design and marketing of an organizational plan.
I have read, and continue to read, material relevant to my areas of interest. I actively reference articles from a diverse set of publications related to such fields as venture-capital funding, management techniques, business-plan writing, and start-up operations. In addition to reading, I have conducted extensive research via the Internet, informational interviews, conferences and seminars. I also keep in close contact with my friends, contacts, and former co-workers, many of whom currently work for start-ups or capital-raising operations.
I have achieved, through both my work and
my own research, a high level of business acumen that I intend to utilize to effectively lead my own organization.
I have been developing, outside of work, several potential business ventures, two of which have received verbal financial support from angel investors. I have come to realize,
through my experiences, that in order to fully develop my business ideas, I will need to hone my current skill-set, gain increased credibility with potential investors, secure access to capital, and find exceptional people whose expertise
compliment my own. I realize,
however, that I cannot efficiently achieve these objectives through work experience and
individual research alone. I plan to attend graduate business school, particularly Wharton, to further my goal of building and operating a successful business.
