The GMAT (The Graduate Management Aptitude Test)
Administered by: Pearson VUE
administers the GMAT exam for the
Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC).
Registration:
Online: www.mba.com
By phone and mail: A list of test
center phone numbers and a mail registration form are
available in the GMAT Information Bulletin, which can be
downloaded from www.mba.com.
Test dates:
You can schedule a GMAT almost any day of the year at a Pearson VUE testing
facility. See the registration page for more information.
You may only take the GMAT a limited number of times in a
given period. You cannot take the GMAT more than once in a
31-day period, or more than 5 times in a 12-month period. If you
get a perfect GMAT score (an 800), you may not take the test
again for 5 years.
Fee: $250
Length: Approximately 3 and 1/2
hours, not including optional breaks.
Scoring:
You will receive an unofficial score report at the end of the
test. Many business schools will allow applicants to enter this
score on their application form (called a 'self report' of GMAT scores), provided that an official
score report from the GMAC
follows. Official score reports are available approximately
three weeks after your test date.
You will receive 4 scores: Quantitative, Verbal, Total, and
Analytical Writing Assessment. Your score report will include
scores from every GMAT you have taken in the last 5 years.
Total GMAT scores range from 200 to 800. According to the
GMAC, two-thirds of test takers score between 400 and 600.
