FORMAT: Paper based.

TEST DATES:

The LSAT is given 4 times a year, usually on Saturdays in the months of February, June, October, and December. Alternate test dates are available for Saturday Sabbath observers.

The test is given at colleges and universities across the US and in several foreign countries. Click here for test site information.

Most law schools require applicants to take the LSAT no later than the December prior to the fall they wish to enroll (i.e., an applicant who wants to begin law school in fall 2007 should take the LSAT no later than December 2006). Many advisors recommend taking the LSAT earlier, in order to have time to retake the test if desired.

You may not take the LSAT more than 3 times in a two-year period unless a law school specifically requests a more recent test score than you can provide.

FEE: $118

LENGTH: Approximately 4 hours.

SCORING:

Scores are reported by email approximately 3 weeks after the test date. Paper reports are mailed approximately 4 weeks after the test.

The LSAT returns a single overall score, on a 120 to 180 range. Your score report will also give percentile figure that indicate how well you scored compared to others who took the test.

Generally, a score of 165 or higher is considered competitive for admission to the more selective law schools.
